Calling all knitters and crochet enthusiasts to create warm winter clothing for low-income families!
About Knit-It-Alls (KIA)
KIA Volunteers knit and crochet throughout the year to create warm winter clothing for low-income families and/or people experiencing homelessness in Seattle/King County. Solid Ground then distributes the items in the winter to people we serve as well as other nonprofits to pass out to their participants. Groups are welcome!
Tasks include:
- Knitting or crocheting a range of warm items like hats, scarves, mittens, as well as baby and children’s clothing.
- Counting, tagging, and sorting KIA donations: If interested, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at Volunteers@solid-ground.org.
Time Commitment
As long as you would like to volunteer! Hours vary based on your schedule. We can also coordinate one-time sorting opportunities for individuals or groups, both in person and remotely.
Qualifications
- Ability to knit, crochet, or sew items for donation, or willingness to learn a new skill
- Willingness and ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds, with various lifestyles, gender identities, and sexual orientations, and of all ages
