Solid Ground hosts farm tours and student field trips at our Giving Garden at Marra Farm in South Park. Groups can visit once or come multiple times during the growing season.
For Adults and High School Youth: We offer farm tours, service learning opportunities, and work parties for high school students and adults. For more information, please email marrafarm@solid-ground.org.
Field Trip Offerings (Preschool-Middle School)
Garden Exploration (1.5 hours)
Students tour our Giving Garden and learn about the history of the neighborhood, organic gardening, bees, worms, soils, chickens, the environment, and eating healthy foods. Students taste, touch, and smell herbs, vegetables, and flowers.
Service Learning (2-4 hours)
Students learn about organic agriculture, food justice, and urban farming through hands-on work. Depending on the season and day, students participate in hands-on activities and learn about worm bins, composting, weeding, planting, and more. Food grown at Solid Ground’s Marra Farm Giving Garden goes to local food banks, meal programs, and neighbors.
