Author, playwright, poet, and multi-media artist Claudia Rankine writes strikingly about the human condition. Eager to cross genres, Rankine combines poetry, essay, visuals, and scholarship, and works with her husband to create short films.
The author of five poetry collections, two plays, and a variety of essays, Rankine’s latest acclaim comes from her visceral lyric essay Citizen: An American Lyric, which was adapted into a stage play in 2014. Her new work Just Us: An American Conversation is described by Kirkus Reviews as a “a passionate and persuasive case about many of the complex mechanics of race in this country.”
