Here at Solid Ground, we’ve long believed in showing up for one another: neighbors helping neighbors create the conditions for everyone to thrive. This spirit of mutual care is exactly what makes the passage of Washington state’s Millionaires Tax (SB 6346) such a meaningful moment.

Solid Ground CEO Shalimar Gonzales
Less than half of one percent of Washingtonians will ever pay this tax, while it’s expected to raise at least $3 billion every year.
That’s $3 billion every year that can go toward the schools, services, and safety nets that hold our communities together.
Washington state has long had one of the most unequal tax systems in the country. Families in the bottom 20% of earners pay 13.8% of their income in taxes, while those at the very top pay just 4.1%.
For too long, the people who have the least have been asked to carry the heaviest load. This new law begins to rebalance that.
Community care isn’t just a feeling – it’s a choice we make together through the policies we support.
When those who have more contribute a little more, everyone gains: better schools, more stable housing and food access, and stronger families.
At Solid Ground, we know that no one thrives alone. This tax is a reminder that building a just, equitable Washington means all of us, especially those with the most, choosing to invest in the whole.
Thanks for doing your part to strengthen our community.
