Welcome to Resource Wire for September 17 – 24, 2025!
Learning how to manage conflict with others is one of those life skills that’s not often taught in school. Fortunately, the King County Dispute Resolution Center is now offering FREE online workshops for young people and families. Read on to learn more, plus find info about paid job training for youth, tenant education webinars, and a TON of community resource fairs across King County!
YOUTH CONFLICT RESOLUTION TRAINING
WHEN: Second Saturday of every month
WHERE: Online.
WHAT: KC Connect is offering a monthly online workshop series designed to equip youth and families across King County with culturally grounded, healing-centered tools to address conflict, build relationships, and lead community change. This free program is intended for families and young people ages 11 to 24.

PAID JOB TRAINING FOR YOUTH
WHEN: Applications accepted until October 15, 2025. Course includes 15 sessions running through March 5, 2026.
WHERE: Classes meet online and in person in Downtown Seattle.
WHAT: Get paid up to $650 to attend job readiness trainings while preparing for your career. With SYEP Learn and Earn, you’ll receive support from a Youth Development Counselor throughout the program to develop skills and interact in small groups with peers. You’ll also get help with practical tools to build your career portfolio (resume, cover letter, etc). To be eligible, you must:
- Be 16-24 years old at the start of the program.
- Live within the Seattle city limits OR attend a Seattle Public School OR attend North Seattle, South Seattle or Seattle Central College.
- Live in a household with income at or below 80% Area Median Income. T
- Have a valid social security number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

Happening This Week
WHAT TO DO ABOUT MOLD IN YOUR APARTMENT
WHEN: Wednesday, September 24, 2025, 5-6:45pm
WHERE: Online. Register for link.
WHAT: Mold is a serious problem in the Pacific Northwest. Learn why and how to treat and prevent it. In this webinar, tenant counselors will discuss:
- How to recognize when a house has a mold problem.
- The owner’s responsibilities to solve repair problems.
- What you should do as a tenant.
- What you can do if your landlord doesn’t fix the problem.

SeaTac resource fair

- What: This year’s We Are SeaTac celebration will include a resource fair with organizations who work with immigrants and refugees to provide services. There will also be live entertainment from different cultures, bouncy houses, activities for the kids, diverse vendors, and entrepreneurs.

FREE & LOW-COST VETERINARY CARE
WHEN: Various dates and times. See below.
WHAT: Seattle Veterinary Outreach, Washington Health Outreach, and Doney Coe Pet Clinic provide veterinary care for free or at a reduced cost to the pets of people experiencing homelessness and or living on low incomes.
Veterinary care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive early to secure a place in line.
Services are reserved for those experiencing homelessness or living with a low income, which is verified at clinics. Pet owners should bring their SNAP, EBT, WIC, SSI, or TANF cards. Alternatively, a letter confirming that the pet owner is living in subsidized housing or receiving housing vouchers is also acceptable.
