Marra Farm: Lettuce Link runs a giving garden at Marra Farm in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood, where all of the food grown goes to the local food bank – this past season it was over 16,300 pounds of fresh produce! We have regular volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups to come help prepare the soil, plant, water, weed, and harvest.
Volunteer information: Starting the second week of March 2010: Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 10am-2pm. For more information, or to schedule your group for the spring, contact Robin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kid’s Program: Co-teach students from Concord Elementary School about gardening and nutrition at Marra Farm. Work collaboratively to deliver a cohesive, fun, positive and engaging program. Experience working with children is preferred.
Volunteer information: Late March-early June, various times on weekday afternoons. Volunteers must pass a Washington State Patrol background check, and be willing to commit to coming for the entire class series (8-10 weeks). For specific class times and more information, contact Robin at email@example.com.
Seattle Community Farm: The Seattle Community Farm will be a space for low-income residents of the Rainier Valley to grow food for themselves and to share with the Rainier Valley Food Bank. We’re still in the early stages of the project, but may need volunteers this spring to participate in community outreach, flyering, child care at community meetings, interpretation, seeking in-kind donations and work parties to build the new site. We are especially looking for volunteers who live in Southeast Seattle.
Volunteer information: Contact Leslie and Jamie at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive information on volunteer opportunities as they arise.
Friends of Lettuce Link: Help build our capacity and keep our program running! We are seeking a committed group of individuals to help us develop and implement creative fundraising strategies to support Lettuce Link, increase awareness about the program and advocate for the program in meetings with public officials.
Volunteer information: For information about our upcoming meetings in early March and future ways to get involved, contact Robin at email@example.com.
