Solid Ground’s Community Food Education (CFE) program is excited to pivot to virtual learning through our Cooking Matters at Home classes, and we need volunteers like you to make it happen!
Cooking Matters at Home virtual classes combine cooking, nutrition, food justice, menu planning, budgeting, kitchen safety, and sanitation to community members experiencing food insecurity. Each Cooking Matters at Home class is led by a staff Community Food Educator, a Volunteer Facilitator, and a Tech Volunteer who work together to facilitate fun, interactive, and informative classes for participants. The class includes educational activities, conversations about food justice, and cooking demonstrations. Classes are held virtually via Zoom in partnership with community organizations like housing sites, health clinics, schools, and other service-providing agencies throughout Seattle.
Classes meet virtually twice per week for six weeks. Each week includes one 90-minute class and one 45-minute cooking demonstration later that same week.
Join us at our next CFE Volunteer Training to learn more!
Trainings are hosted quarterly, and we ask all volunteers interested in Cooking Matters at Home classes to attend this required training to learn more! Please note: Before attending this training, all volunteers must have already attended (or be signed up for) a Solid Ground Volunteer Orientation OR be a current Cooking Matters Satellite Partner Volunteer. Please email Shana for more information.
