Save the date for Solid Ground’s 20th annual Building Community Luncheon presented by Whole Foods Market! We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Chef Edouardo Jordan as our keynote speaker.
Owner of acclaimed Seattle restaurants Salare, JuneBaby, and Lucinda Grain Bar, Chef Jordan received 2018 James Beard Awards for Best Chef NW and Best New Restaurant for JuneBaby. Chef Jordan writes, “Southern food reflects hard times and resourcefulness and is nothing short of beautiful.”
In Solid Ground’s recent practice of engaging our keynote speakers in meaningful ways with our communities, Chef Jordan will work with youth at our Sand Point Housing campus in January to connect food and individual ingredients to various cultural traditions. His JuneBaby restaurant has a historical focus on Southern Cuisine and the African Diaspora. At the Luncheon, Chef Jordan will reflect on food traditions and how they build communities and resilience.
For a taste of Chef Jordan’s “food with roots” approach to cultural healing via traditional foods, visit the JuneBaby website Encyclopedia page.
*While there’s no ticket cost to attend the Luncheon, it is Solid Ground’s largest event of the year, and a donation ask will be made. Check back soon for registration information!
