Cooking Matters Seattle is a project of Solid Ground in partnership with Share Our Strength (SOS), a national anti-hunger organization. The project is a community-based education program which teaches healthy cooking, nutrition, and food budgeting to people living on low incomes. The Nutrition Education Partnerships Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of coordination and collaboration with community partners in implementing the Cooking Matters curriculum (including recruitment, orientation, training, technical assistant, and data needs), as well as coordinating and facilitating classes using the Cooking Matters curriculum.
Essential Responsibilities, Duties & Tasks
50% Coordinate the recruitment, development and retention of host sites as well as the scheduling of classes, tours and demonstrations to achieve program objectives and facilitate program expansion throughout Solid Ground’s service area. Recruit, train, and support Satellite Partner sites to implement the Cooking Matters curriculum in Washington. Conduct regular site visits and annual partner evaluations. Serve as point of contact with Share our Strength. Prepare contracts and agreements with partners regarding program implementation.
20% Coordinate nutrition education classes, tours and events including Cooking Matters; coordinate class logistics including: communication and planning with volunteers, nutrition instructors and host site staff as needed. Coordinate with team to prepare materials and supplies for classes including ordering, purchasing and transporting food and supplies, preparing class/tour agendas and other written materials, completing required class evaluations, maintain program database, records and files. Work with team to prepare various reports as required. Coordinate the maintenance of program supplies and equipment. Teach nutrition education classes in English and Spanish as needed.
15% Work with the Nutrition Education team to coordinate and support the work of up to 3 AmeriCorps members; provide feedback and ongoing support to members.
10% Coordinate program outreach efforts including the development and revision of nutrition education curricula and evaluation tools to expand program reach and meet the diverse needs in the community, volunteer outreach, speaking engagements and participation in various community meetings, etc. and maintenance web/social media sites as needed.
5% Participate in program, department, Anti-Racism Initiative and agency meetings and trainings as required. Support the work of the Community Food Education team as necessary.
