History of Working Wheels
When Working Wheels was up and running, the program sold affordable used cars to eligible workers and job seekers who had transportation challenges that put them at risk of losing a job or made it difficult to accept a job. The majority of the cars were donated from the City of Seattle and King County.
Designed by the Office of Port Jobs, Working Wheels served ALL of King County, making it possible for people to buy cars they could not otherwise afford. This allowed our clients to succeed in the workplace by providing them with a safe and reliable vehicle at a fair and reasonable cost. Vehicles sold from $1,000 to $3,000 (about half of their normal "retail" price) with low-interest loans from Sound Community Bank.
