Broadview Emergency Shelter

Broadview provides short-term emergency shelter and longer-term transitional housing for women with children who are homeless, most as a result of domestic violence. Each family is provided with a furnished apartment unit in a secure building with on-site staffing 24 hours/day, seven days/week. Broadview offers a variety of family-based support services including:

  • 24-hour crisis intervention;
  • advocacy-based counseling;
  • goal setting and weekly progress meetings;
  • housing resource information and advocacy;
  • weekly domestic violence support groups and legal advocacy;
  • teen support services;
  • weekly age-appropriate education/support and activity groups for children and youth;
  • tutors for youth;
  • parenting and addictions recovery support groups;
  • advocacy and referrals for resources;
  • health care access and referral;
  • follow-up services with families moving to permanent housing. Household supplies, personal hygiene items, bus tickets and emergency food are also provided.

Broadview provides emergency shelter for women with children for up to 10 weeks, and transitional housing for up to 18 months to women with children, all at a secure, confidential location. Each family stays in a furnished unit. Household supplies, personal hygiene items, bus tickets and emergency food are also provided.

Broadview features 24-hour staffing and crisis services, advocacy-based counseling, goal setting and weekly progress meetings, domestic violence education and support groups for mothers and children, teen support services, resource referrals for education, food, legal services, and housing counseling. Addiction recovery service, mental health counseling, and health care are available through service providers on site.

Broadview's children's program provides four age-specific education/support groups for its youngest residents that help them overcome the traumas of displacement and family violence. We also have individual tutors and a homework group.

Eligibility
Broadview is available to women with children, women and children who are victims of domestic violence, women with mobility disabilities, and women who are non-English speaking (that encompasses individuals from the Deaf and Blind community who do not speak, as well as women who speak a language other than English).
