Most of Solid Ground's 30 different programs and services rely on volunteers. Volunteers are an indispensable resource that helps multiply the impact our work can make in our communities.

Solid Ground frequently has project opportunities for groups of up to 40 participants. We look forward to learning about your organization’s community service goals and how we can work together to make an impact in our community. If you are interested in learning more about Solid Ground, our programs, and the types of volunteer opportunities we have available, please join us for a Volunteer Information Session! These sessions take place throughout the year and are a great source of information. They also offer the opportunity to meet staff and other volunteers.

Our next info session will be scheduled for late summer 2014 at our headquarters building in the Wallingford neighborhood (1501 N 45th St, Seattle, WA 98103). Please check back or contact our Volunteer Coordinator for the exact date.

Application Process

To get on Solid Ground's general volunteer list, please complete and submit a Volunteer Application form and Washington State Patrol Background Check form. Your personal information will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold or given to any other organization. (Please note: Some Solid Ground programs use their own volunteer application forms, so if you are interested in any of the specific volunteer positions listed on our Individual Volunteers or Group Volunteers sections, please see each individual volunteer description for how to apply.)

1) Apply online:

  • Online Volunteer Application: Please fill in as much information as you can, as it helps our volunteer coordinator match you with the most appropriate opportunities.
  • Washington State Patrol Background Check form: For your Background Check to be complete, it must contain a valid signature. Please print and sign this form, then fax, mail or scan and email it to our Volunteer Coordinator (see fax and address below).

2) Complete a paper application:

  • Volunteer Application (MS Word): If you prefer not to apply online, please download this Word version of our Volunteer Application. After completing your application, fill out and sign the Background Check, and mail, fax or email both forms to the contact info below.
  • Washington State Patrol Background Check form: For your Background Check to be complete, it must contain a valid signature. Please print and sign this form, then fax, mail or scan and email it to our Volunteer Coordinator (see fax and address below).

3) Review our Volunteer Manual:

  • Volunteer Manual: Refer to this manual for information about Solid Ground's mission, history and programs as well as our volunteer and organizational policies.
