"New housing at Sand Point fits right into the goals of the 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness. It's fantastic to see Solid Ground doing more to help our community end homelessness!"

Committee to End Homelessness
in King County Co-Chair

Building a great place to live for people who need a home

Solid Ground is building 106 new housing units at Sand Point for formerly homeless people – helping fulfill Seattle’s ongoing vision to reuse the Sand Point Naval Station. Combined with the 94 existing transitional housing units in renovated Navy buildings, there will be a total of 200 housing units at Sand Point by the project's end.

We broke ground on April 15, 2010 and completed Brettler Family Place and the Lowry Community Center in early 2011. Brettler Family Place concludes Stage 1 of our Capital Campaign, ending homelessness for 51 families. Stage 2, slated for completion by fall 2013, creates 20 additional housing units for families, as well as 34 units for single men and women, including veterans, seniors and people living with disabilities.

The 106 new units will provide permanent housing and support services for hardworking families and individuals overcoming homelessness.

Did you know...

The One Night Count conducted in King County this past January 2012 estimates that over 8,800 people are without a place to call home each night. This represents a 3% increase from last year. Creating new housing and support services at Sand Point is one way Solid Ground is working to address this harsh reality.
